Have You Heard the Awesome Maine Snow Song?
Next time you are out shoveling, get this tune in your head.
Troy R. Bennett is a Buxton native and longtime Portland resident whose photojournalism has appeared in media outlets all over the world. He also reports for the Bangor Daily News. He's a pretty talented native and came up with the song, "This is Maine and It's Going to Snow".
Wintertime in Maine, whatcha gonna do? Sit around the house watching football on the tube. Talk about the Sox whose pitching is here, eat a lot of stew, and maybe drink a few beers. But then the weatherman says, you better get ready snow is on the way and it's gonna be steady. We might even get a foot this time and everybody acts like they're losing their minds. Well, hey hey, well, ho ho. Gotta tell ya just so ya know. Well hey, hey, well ho, ho. This is Maine and it's gonna snow.
Snow! It's like rain, only it's fluffier.
This is fantastic! Troy nails it. Another title for the song could be "Quit Your Bitchin".
I think my favorite part of the song is that he sings it on a porch while it snows on him. And as he so 'Mainely' puts it in the song, it's gonna snow in November, December, January, February, and then in March it will warm up... but it will snow again and break your heart.
We're Mainers. That's why the six days of summer are so cherished. We earn it! Thanks, Troy!
