Two women who have been missing since Tuesday in their red Jeep have been safely located.

Where Were They Found?

Topsham Police say 51-year-old Kimberly Pushard and 50-year-old Angela Bussell, both of Topsham, were safely located near Nicatous Lake in East Hancock, Maine. Police say Game Warden Brad Richard came across the women on his snowmobile. Their vehicle was stuck on a snowy road and they had run out of gas. The women spent Saturday night in their car, with no heat, before being rescued on Sunday. Wind chills on Saturday night got down to 15 below zeros in that area. Miraculously, the women were still smiling when they were rescued.

How Long Have They Been Missing?

The women went missing on Tuesday when they decided to go to the Maine Mall in South Portland in the early afternoon. By 5:00, the women were in Massachusetts and called family members for help. Their family tried to direct the women home, but they became lost again in Exeter, New Hampshire. A call to the police for help was dropped and then they somehow connected with a New Hampshire State Trooper who made sure they got on I-95 northbound late Tuesday night. A Silver Alert was issued because the women have intellectual disabilities and so are considered vulnerable.

10:00 Wednesday morning, the women were spotted again, this time at a gas station in Springfield, Maine. The final sighting was later that morning in Lincoln, when they headed toward Enfield. Police suggested that perhaps they confused Topsham and Topsfield, and that's how they ended up so far north. Weekend searches included the use of an airplane and helicopter, with police asking residents to keep an eye out for the women and their vehicle.

Were They Healthy?

Police have not commented on the women's physical condition when they were found, only that they were safe. They were taken to a facility to receive medical services. More information is expected to be released soon.

Topsham Police want to thank all agencies and persons who assisted in this search.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
