What Happened?

It was approximately 12:45 Tuesday afternoon when two vehicles collided on Route 1 in Jonesboro, near the Columbia Falls line. An initial investigation into the circumstances of the crash indicate that a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Lenore Faulkingham, 69, of Whitneyville was traveling east when her vehicle crossed the center line. Her pickup struck a Subaru Forester, driven by Tammy O'Neal, 62, of Machias. O'Neal's sister, Diana O'Neal, was a passenger in the vehicle and died in the crash.

Was Anyone Else Hurt in the Crash?

Faulkingham and her 15-year-old grandson were transported to Downeast Community Hospital in Machias to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Tammy O'Neal was also treated for non-life threatening injuries at the hospital.

Maine State Police continue to investigate this crash.
