Island Connections has been providing free transportation to seniors and those with disabilities since May of 1997. They are celebrating their 25th year of service and launching it's "25 for 25 More" Matching Campaign on May 25th.

According to Sharon Linscott the Executive Director of Island Connections "We are calling it 25 for 25 more because our goal is to raise $25,000 in matching funds to help begin our next 25 years of service to our community. Several generous donors have pledged $25,000 in seed funds to be matched dollar for dollar between May 25th and June 25th.

The kickoff begins on Wednesday, May 25th from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. on the front lawn of the Municipal Building. WDEA's Chris Popper will be broadcasting live. Anyone who donates to the matching campaign during the live broadcast will be entered to win car-related gift items. Island Connections will also hand out car shaped cookies during the event!

From 2016 through 2021 Island Connections dedicated volunteer drivers provided 25,000 rides to medical appointments, life-saving treatments and grocery shopping as well as other services. They are also the "wheel" for the Meals on Wheels program and deliver food for the Food Access Project.

Donations to the matching campaign may be made through Island Connection's website or mailed to 93 Cottage Street, Suite 101, Bar Harbor Maine, 04609. Call 207-288-4457 for more information.
