Island Connections 2nd Annual Sugar Showdown to be Held February 8th

Island Connections 2nd Annual Sugar Showdown will be held Saturday, February 8th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Atlantic Oceanside in Bar Harbor.

Last year's event was a rousing success! Organizers were hoping for 150 attendees, and over 300 persons showed up to taste the creations of 32 bakers. The bakers were divided into 3 categories; Whoopie Pie, Sweet Surprise and Showstopper.

The Top 3 in each Category, as voted by those in attendance, then were judged by 3 judges with the winners being

All proceeds benefited Island Connections, an organization devoted to providing rides to seniors and disabled on Mount Desert Island.

This years there will be 4 categories! In addition to last year's Whoopie Pie, Sweet Surprise and Showstopper categories there will be a new category in celebration of Maine's favorite berry : Blueberry Bliss

General admission will be $10 per person prior to the event or $15 at the door. This gives you the ability to sample desserts from all 4 categories, live music by the Washboard Rebellion, tokens to vote on your favorite desserts and a raffle for the Showstopper cakes.
