Houlton Girls Beat MDI 68-39
The MDI Girl's Basketball Team traveled to Houlton on Saturday, February 4th and lost to Houlton 68-39 in their 2nd to last game of the season. MDI will close out the season on Wednesday, February 8th at Ellsworth at 7 PM. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio and on our free dowloadable APP, sponsored by First National Bank.
Houlton jumped out to a 15-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Aspen Flewelling had 8 points with 2 3-pointers for Houlton while Kristen Brewer had 4 points, Emma Peterson 2 points and Kolleen Bouchard 1 point. For MDI Mariah Hamor had 3 points and Maya Watras had 2 points.
Houlton increased their lead to 25 points at the end of the 1st Half, 40-15. In the 2nd Quarter Bouchard had 17 points, including 4 3-pointers for Houlton. Kristen Brewer and Aspen Flewelling each chipped in 2 points. For MDI Hannah Chamberlain had a 3-pointer, Abbe Miller, Maddy Good, Maddy Candage each had 2 points while Julia Watras had 1 point.
It was 49-29 at the end of the 3rd Quarter with Houlton up on top. For MDI, Julia Watras had 7 points with a 3-pointer. Maya Watras, Alexis Clarito, and Maddy Good each had 2 points for the Trojans, while Mariah Hamor was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Houlton Rylee Warman had 5 points with a 3-pointer, and Mikayla Fitzpatrick and Kolleen Bouchard chipping in 2 points each for Houlton.
In the 4th Quarter, Bouchard and Kristen Graham had 8 points each. Warman had 2 points and Mikayla Fitzpatrick had 1 point for the Shiretowners. For MDI Julia Watras had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Mariah Hamor and Hannah Chamberlain had 2 points each and Maddy Good was 1-2 from the free throw line.
Houlton was led by Kolleen Bouchard with 28 points, while Rylee Warman had 11 points and Aspen Flewelling had 10 points. Houlton was 21-26 from the free throw line.
MDI was led by Julia Watras with a season high 13 points. Mariah Hamor had 6 points. MDI was 6-10 from the free throw line.
MDI is 10-7 and will close out the season on Wednesday, February 8th at Ellsworth at 7 PM. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio and on our free dowloadable APP, sponsored by First National Bank with the pregame starting at 6:30 PM.
Houlton is 15-1 and plays at Calais on Monday, February 6th and closes out the season on Wednesday, February 89th at Hermon.
