High School Basketball Returns to WDEA for 20th Season on Friday December 5th

High School Basketball returns to the WDEA AM 1370 airwaves this Friday night, December 5th for our 20th season with Chris Popper broadcasting MDI and Ellsworth games.

When we started back in 2005, we broadcast 13 games and all the games needed to be from Bernard Parady and Katsiaficas Gymnasiums as we needed hard telephone lines in each gym. Technology has changed over the 20 years, and now we use cell phones and a computer on site and we broadcast from all over the state!

Despite my plans to slow down, the 2025-26 season looks to be our busiest season. As long as Mother Nature cooperates, and my voice holds out and health is good, we are planning on broadcasting 23 games in December, 25 games in January, 2 games in January and then MDI and Ellsworth playoff games.

All the games will be broadcast on-air at WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled devices.

Here is the schedule of games that will be broadcast December 5-13. As always you can check back on our website for complete recaps of all MDI and Ellsworth games, even if we did not broadcast that particular game.

Friday December 5

• MDI Girls vs. Washington Academy 7 p.m. with pregame starting at 6:40 p.m.

Saturday December 6 

• Ellsworth Boys vs. Caribou 12:30 p.m. with pregame starting at 12:10 p.m.
• Ellsworth Girls vs. Caribou - Immediately following the Boy's game approximately 2 p.m.

Monday December 8

• MDI Boys vs. Belfast  6:30 p.m. with pregame starting at 6:10 p.m.

Tuesday December 9

• Ellsworth Girls at Brewer 5 p.m. with pregame starting at 4:40 p.m.
• Ellsworth Boys at Brewer immediately following Girl's game approximately 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday December 10

• Ellsworth Girls at Old Town 7 p.m. with pregame starting at 6:40 p.m.

Thursday December 11

• MDI Boys vs. Bangor 6:30 p.m. with pregame starting at 6:10 p.m.

Saturday December 13

• Ellsworth Boys at Belfast 4 p.m. with pregame starting at 3:40 p.m.
• Ellsworth Girls at Belfast immediately following Boy's game approximately 5:30 p.m.
