The Hermon Hawks tied the score with a run in the top of the 7th and then scored in the 9th inning to beat the Ellsworth Eagles 2-1 in Ellsworth on Tuesday, May 26th.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Lilly Alley hit a triple and then scored on an error to give Ellsworth a 1-0 lead.

The Eagles took the 1-0 lead into the top of the 7th inning. With 2 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd base Hannah Waning hit a ground ball and reached on an Ellsworth error, allowing Maddie Tracy to score to tie the game 1-1.

In the top of the 9th inning Tracy singled and scored on a double by Brielle Phair to score the game-winner.

Cam Clough was the tough-luck losing pitcher for the Eagles. She pitched a complete game allowing 4 hits and 2 runs, 1 of which was earned. She struck out and walked 6.

Mikelle Verrill started in the circle for the Hawks and pitched 8.0 innings allowing 1 unearned run, striking out 16 and walking 1.  Rebecca Balmas picked up the win in relief, pitching the 9th and allowing 1 hit and striking out 2.

Brielle Phair  had a double for the Hawks. Elena Walker, Leah Walker and Tracy each singled.

Brielle Phair had a stolen base for Hermon.

Lily Alley was 3-3 for Ellsworth with a triple. Cam Clough was 2-4. Addison Englehard and Jovi Nightingale each had a double. Greenlee Harmon had a single.

Ellsworth is now 8-6 They are playing at Old Town on Thursday, May 28th at 4:30 p.m.

Hermon is 11-1. They play at MDI on Thursday, May 28th at 4 p.m.
