Hermon Girls Rout MDI 61-36

Some nights things just don't go your way, and Thursday night, January 12th was such a night, as the Hermon Hawks gave the MDI Girl's Basketball Team an old-fashioned butt-whipping, defeating the Trojans 61-36 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor.

Hermon jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Lauren Plissey had 4 points, Alex Allain, Paige Plissey, Emi Higgins and Chloe Raymond each had 2 points for the Hawks. For MDI Maya Watras and Julia Watras each had 2 points while Alexis Clarito and Maddy Candage each were 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter Hermon outscored MDI 19-6 to take a 31-12 lead at Halftime. For Hermon, Allan had 11 points with 2 3-pointers, Page Plissey had 4 points, Lauren Plissey had 3 points and Emi Higgins chipped in 1 point. For MDI Maya Watras, Emma Watras and Mariah Hamor each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, Hermon extended their lead to 32 points, 50-18. Hermon received 10 points from Emi Higgins, 4 points from Lauren Plissey, a 3-pointer from Madisyn Curtis and 2 points for Alex Allain. For MDI Maddy Candage and Mariah Hamor had 2 points, while Abbe Miller and Maddy Good each were 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4 Quarter, Emily Banks had 7 points for MDI, Rachelle Swanson had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Maddy Good had 4 points and Alexis Clarito 2 points for the Trojans. For Hermon Caitlynn Tracy had 6 points, Curtis had a 3-pointer and Higgins chipped in 2 more points.

Hermon was led by Alex Allain and Emi Higgins each with 15 points while Lauren Plissey had 11 points. Hermon was 13-27 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Emily Banks with 7 points while Rachelle Swanson had 5 points. The Trojans were 11-22 from the free throw line.

Things don't get easier for the 7-3 MDI Trojans as they play Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft on Saturday, January 14th and then Presque Isle at home on Wednesday, Janaury 18th at 5 PM and then Central on Saturday, January 21st at 4:30 PM at home. The Presque Isle and Central games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

Hermon, now 9-1 and sitting on top of the Class B North Heal Points play Caribou in Hermon on Monday, January 16th at 3 PM.
