For the second consecutive Friday, first responders from across the state will gather at the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor for the funeral of a member of the law enforcement community.

On Friday, March 24, there will be a celebration of the life of Nick Hardwick, the administrator of the Penobscot County Jail, and a reserve police officer in Southwest Harbor.

On Friday, March 17, Holden Police Chief Chris Greeley's funeral was held at the Anah Temple Shrine.

Nick Hardwick, 43, died unexpectedly on March 8, 2023, while on vacation with his family. He was born on August 3, 1979, in Blue Hill.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Jessica Hardwick, are his daughter, Kadance Hardwick of Glenburn, and son, Drew Hardwick of Tennessee (as well as Drew's mother, Liz); his father, Nicholas Hardwick Sr of Winterport; his mother, Beth Gordon and stepfather, Rusty Gordon, of Sullivan; brother, Ryan Hardwick of Bar Harbor; sister, Jillian Hardwick and partner, Drew Urquhart, of Sullivan; brother, Ryan Gordon and wife, Crystal, of Sullivan; and sister, Jamie Golembiewski and husband, John, of Maryland.
