Hang Out With Horses This Saturday At Free ‘Open Barn’ Event In Bar Harbor
For those looking to take on a new hobby or perhaps are ready to try out something, you've been wanting to do for a long time (or both!), check out this special day free for visitors.
Willowind Therapeutic Riding Center in Bar Harbor is offering a free day for those interested to visit with their horses.
Willowind has a mission to bring children and adults with disabilities to their facility for equine therapy, make connections with horses and promote healing on many levels:
"Willowind’s work is based on equine therapy, which incorporates horses into the therapeutic process and healing. The equine activities and environment that Willowind provides bring people outdoors and promote physical, occupational, and emotional growth in persons suffering from attention-deficit, anxiety, autism, cerebral palsy, dementia, depression, developmental delay, genetic syndromes (such as Down syndrome), traumatic brain injuries, behavioral issues, abuse issues, and many other mental health challenges."
Open Barn Day May 21st
The 'Open Barn Day' kicks off at 11 AM and goes until 2 PM. Activities will include some fun stuff for kids including puppet making with Frogtown Puppeteers, face painting, and a scavenger hunt.
You'll also get to know the horses with a vaulting demo and you'll also get to take a tour of the barn itself.
Open Barn Day is a free event but monetary donations will be accepted, as will non-perishable food items for Hancock County Food Security network.
Follow the discussion and event details on the Facebook event page, 'Open Barn Day', hosted by Willowind Therapeutic Riding Center.
