Flamingo Festival in Southwest Harbor This Weekend July 13-15

It's time to get your pink on and head to Southwest Harbor for the Annual Flamingo Festival this Saturday and Sunday July 13th and 14th. This year's theme is "Summer Games in Southwest Harbor" in honor of the Summer Olympics

The Flamingo Festival is one of my favorite annual events. The Festival, put on by the Harbor House in Southwest Harbor is in honor of Don Featherstone, the creator of the plastic flamingo lawn ornament! For many years, Don and his wife Nancy would come to Southwest Harbor in their matching clothes, all handmade by Nancy.

The schedule for this year's festival includes

Saturday July 13

• 7:30 to 9 a.m. (or until sold out) -  Pancake Breakfast under the Tent $7.00 per person
• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Southwest Harbor Public Library Book Sale at the American Legion Hall, 22 Village Green Way.
• 9:30 a.m. Flamingo Parade. To sign up for the Parade CLICK HERE
• 10 a.m. - 12 Noon - Kids Carnival Games
• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Bounce House. T-Ball Game
• 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. - Craft Fair with over 40 crafters
• 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Coast Guard Open House
• 12 noon - 4 p.m. - Open House at the Southwest Harbor Historical Society Meeting House on the Seawall Road.

Sunday July 14

• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Southwest Harbor Public Library Book Sale at the American Legion Hall, 22 Village Green Way.
• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Craft Fair with over 40 crafters
• 1 to 3 p.m. Open House at the Southwest Harbor Historical Society Meeting House on the Seawall Road.
• 5 to 7 p.m. - Polo and Yacht Club Cocktail Part at Causeway Club Barn $50 per person includes 2 Drink Tickets, Hors d'ouevres and dancing to the "Seal Harbor Boys". Tickets are available for purchase at the Harbor House or online

Monday July 15

• 7:30 p.m. Flash in the Pans! Steel Drum Concert on the Pemetic Green. Fundraiser for the Harbor House. $5.00 suggested donation per person.
