Ellsworth Volleyball Knocks Off Previously Undefeated Brewer in 4 sets
The Ellsworth High School Volleyball Team knocked off the previously unbeaten Brewer Witches in Brewer on Thursday, March 25th in 4 sets 3-1. The individual set scores were 25-19, 25-18, 16-25 and 25-23.
According to Ellsworth Coach Jamie Calandro
EHS won the first two sets before Brewer really picked up the serving in set 3. The starting unit started showing fatigue so we made some key substitutions which really helped get our offense moving again. In the 4th set Brewer jumped out to a 7-0 lead, and in the past this is a scenario where teams I've coached would’ve crumbled. The girls settled into their offense, made smart decisions, and clawed back one point at a time. Brewer really made us earn that last point too - they were not letting the ball hit the ground for anything.
