After 2 postponements due to weather, the Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team beat the MDI Trojans 61-52 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Saturday, February 8th. Despite the loss, MDI claimed the 8th seed and will host Mt. View on Wednesday, February 12th in a prelim game.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 15-11 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Jackson Curtis had 8 points for Ellsworht with Austin Harris having 3 points and Adam Inman and Eamon MacDonald chipping in 2 points each. For MDI Porter Isaacs had 4 points, Brady Renualt had a 3-pointer and Cadin Lunt and Erik Merchant had 2 points each.

Ellsworth outscored MDI 18-12 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 33-23 lead at the Half. Harris had 8 points with 2 3-pointers. J'Von James had 5 points with a 3-pointer. Connor Crawford had a 3-pointer and Hunter Curtis added 2 points. For MDI Nate Philbrook had 4 points. Erik Merchant and Porter Isaacs each had 3 points and Will Hodgon had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Ellsworth 16-14 to cut Ellsworth's lead to 47-39. Jack DaCorte had 10 points with 2 3-pointers. Charlie Parker and Nate Philbrook each had 2 points and Erik Merchant was 2-2 from the free throw line. For Ellsworth Hunter Curtis had 8 points and Austin Harris, Adam Inman and Jackson Curtis each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Darby Barry had 8 points with 2 3's for the Eagles. Jackson Curtis was 4-6 from the free throw line for 4 points. Austin Harris had 2 points For the Trojans Jack DaCorte had 8 points with 2 more 3-pointers to finish with 4 in the game. Porter Isaacs had 2 points. Nate Philbrook was 2-2 from the free throw line and Brady Renault was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Austin Harris with 15 points while Jackson Curtis had 14 points and Hunter Curtis 10 points. Ellsworth was 11-21 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Jack DaCorte with a game high 18 points. Porter Isaacs had 9 points. The Trojans were 7-13 from the free throw line.

MDI finishes the regular season with a record of 8-10 and in 8th place. They will host the 9th seeded Mt. View Mustangs, 9-9 on Wednesday, February 12th. Time TBA. The game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Ellsworth, the #2 seed, finishes the season with a 15-3 record. They will play in the Quarterfinals at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday, February 14th against the winner of the Winslow-Orono (7-10) prelim game at 8:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
