Del Luce Stadium will be quiet this summer and next fall, as Ellsworth will begin the process of rebuilding the track and soccer field.

With the City's approval of a $749,565 contract with Rekortan, the track and soccer field will be replaced.

The soccer field is crowned and the track, originally installed in 1988 has numerous cracks.

It is anticipated that that the City and School Department will fundraise about $250,000 to reduce the bond's impact on upcoming budgets.

With the soccer field and track being shut down over the summer and fall, Ellsworth residents will have to find an alternative place to walk outdoors, and the Ellsworth High School Soccer Teams will need a new place to play in the fall.

Josh Frost the Athletic Director at Ellsworth High School told me that the tentative plan for the soccer teams is to play on the football field at Tug White Stadium. While that seems almost certain for the varsity squads, the junior varsity soccer games might be played on the baseball field in the fall.

The Middle School soccer games would be played on the field below Del Luce Stadium next to the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle Scholl in the fall.
