Ellsworth Softball Sweeps Presque Isle 13-1 and 12-5
The Ellsworth Softball Teams swept Presque Isle in a doubleheader in Ellsworth on Tuesday, May 7th, finishing up just before the heavier rains came in the afternoon. The Eagles won Game 1 by the score of 13-1 and Game 2 by the score of 12-5
In Game 1 the Eagles batted around in the 1st inning, sending 10 to the plate and scoring 6 runs. They added 1 in the 3rd inning and 3 runs in the 4th inning before adding 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to stop the game due to the 11 run mercy rule.
Trinity Montigny had a double and single, Kayla Duhaime had a double. Katie Hammer had 2 singles. Sara Shea, Bailey Peterson, Lexi Rossi each had a single,
Tyler Hellum fresh off of her no-hitter on Monday, May 6th, allowed 4 hits. and struck out 8. Lydia Miller had 2 bunt singles. Allison Madore had a double, and Anna Trombley had a single.
In Game 2 Ellsworth scored 1 run in the 1st inning, 3 in the 2nd, 1 in the 4th and 4 runs in the 5th before adding 3 more insurance runs in the 6th inning.
Sara Shea had a home run and 2 singles, Abby Moon had a homer and a single. Trinity Montigny had a double. Kayla Duhaime, Sydney Stevens, Isabelle Perry and Lexi Rossi each had a single for Ellsworth.
Presque Isle scored a run in the 2nd inning and 4 runs in the 4th inning.
Kenzie Chipman was in the circle for Ellsworth in Game 2. She struck out 6 and allowed just 3 hits. .
Rebecca Rider, Allison Madore, and Rhylee Kinney each had a single for the Wildcats.
Ellsworth is now 6-1 and will play at Belfast on Thursday, May 9th at 4PM.
Presque Isle is 2-4 and will host Caribou on Wednesday, May 8th at 7PM.
