The Ellsworth Softball Team dropped the opening game of the 2021 season on Friday, April 23rd at Ellsworth High School, a sunny, but very windy day, losing 3-2 to the Old Town Coyotes, as Old Town scored the winning run on an error in the top of the 7th inning.

Tyler Hellum pitched the complete game for Ellsworth, striking out 9 and walking 2. She scattered 4 hits. She allowed 1 earned run, taking the hard luck loss.

Reagan Glidden started the game for the Coyotes, going 3 innings and striking out 5. She allowed 2 runs, both earned and 4 hits. Sage Evans came on in relief, pitching the final 3 innings, picking up the win, striking out 5 and walking 1.

Ellsworth had 7 hits on the afternoon. Sara Shea was 2-4 with a single and double. Casey Carter was 2-2. Alex Bivins, Hannah Richardson and Tyler Hellum each had a single for the Eagles.

For Old Town Emma Crews was 2-2 with a single and double. Hannah Sirois had a double and Reagan Glidden had a single.

Ellsworth 0-1 plays host to GSA on Tuesday, April 27th at 4 p.m. while Old Town 1-0 will play host to John Bapst on Tuesday, April 27th at 4 p.m.
