The Ellsworth Eagles Softball Team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the MDI Trojans 8-3 on Senior Day in Ellsworth.

MDI jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning, but Ellsworth scored 2 in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and added 1 in the bottom of the 4th to tie the score 3-3. Ellsworth then took the lead adding 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th and added an insurance run in the 6th.

Sammy Mason started in the circle for Ellsworth and allowed 3 hits, and 3 runs in 2 innings. She walked 2. Mackenzie Chipman came on in relief and pitched 5 scoreless innings, limited the Trojans to just 1 hit, while striking out 7 and walking 1.

Lindsey McEachern took the loss. She pitched a complete game notching her 100th strikeout. She allowed 4 hits, 8 runs, although only 2 of the runs was earned. She walked 3 and struck out 6.

MDI committed 4 errors in the game, while Ellsworth made 2 errors.

Ruby Brown and Lindsey McEachern each had a double for MDI. Madison Neale, and Madison Jones each had a single for the Trojans.

For Ellsworth Mariah Young had a single and double.  Katie Hammer and Emma Pickering each had singles for the Eagles.

Ellsworth honored their 4 seniors, Callie Hammer, Sammy Mason, Emma Pickering and Leah Stevens before the game.

Ellsworth finishes their regular season with a 10-6 record and are in the playoffs and will play in a prelim game.

MDI is now 5-10 and play their final regular season game on Thursday, June 1st at 4:30 PM when they travel to Old Town.
