Ellsworth High School, MDI High School and Sumner Memorial High School have announced their 2022 Maine Principal Association's Principal Award winners for their respective schools. The award, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic achievement and citizenship.

Selected were Alicia Havey from Ellsworth High School, Charlie Parker from MDI High School and Rachel Colby from Sumner Memorial High School.

The individual school winners with their respective principal, along with other award winners and their principals will participate in a Live Virtual Scholarship Drawing Event on Friday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m.  Ten $1,000 scholarships will be drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.

The Principal's Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine's school administrators.

Throughout his years at MDIHS, Charlie has distinguished himself in the classroom, as an athlete, and as a leader in the school and the community who we can look to as a source of inspiration" Principal Haney noted in making the award.  "He very much deserves this recognition."

Sumner Principal Green described Rachel as an all-around exemplary citizen and student. "She truly represents the best of Sumner" he noted. Rachel was also awarded the 2022 Davis Maine Scholarship. She is Sumner's National Honor Society President and a 3-season athlete and captain of the Girl's Varsity Soccer and Basketball Teams.
