Ellsworth High School musicians excelled at the recent Jazz Band competition at Hampden Academy on Friday March 17th.

The EHS Large Combo received a silver medal for the second straight year, performing three pieces, entitled "Funkathustra", "Why Don't you Do Right" (with Finley Harmon on lead vocals), and "All Bets Are Off" featuring Emily Hagarman on tenor sax.

Gold solo ratings in large combo went to:

  • Felix Markosian - Trumpet
  • Wyatt Simmons - Drums
  • Paige Johnson - Bass
  • Emily Hagarman - Tenor Sax
  • Cady Gleason- Trombone
  • Finley Harmon- Vocals

The EHS Big Band received a bronze medal, performing "Carnival Kerfuffle", "Fly Me to the Moon" (with Rakeleigh Keeney on lead vocal), and "Haitian Fight Song" which opened and closed with a prolonged bass solo from Devin Brown.

Gold Solo ratings went to:

  • Emily Hagarman - Tenor Sax
  • Felix Markosian - Trumpet
  • Rakeleigh Keeney- Vocals

The EHS Small Combo also received a bronze medal with two songs. "Going Home" featuring Elizabeth Ford on clarinet, and "Satin Doll" with Lindsey Cirard on lead vocal.

Gold Solo ratings went to:

  •  Elizabeth Ford - Clarinet
  • Lindsey Cirard - Vocals
  • Cady Gleason - Piano
  • Noah DiDonato- Alto Sax
