Ellsworth Girls Tame the Lions 53-40

The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team tamed the Belfast Lions on Saturday, December 22nd at Katsiaficas Gymnasium 53-40 behind Trinity Montigny's career high 37 points.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 15-12 lead a the end of the 1st Quarter. Montigny scored 14 points for Ellsworth, including a 3-pointer. Sierra Andrews was 1-2 from the free throw line. Belfast was led by Kiara Doolan and Lillie Mitchell with 4 points each and Kayci Faulkingha, and Hannah Banks had 2 points each.

In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Belfast 15-6 to take a 30-18 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Montigny scored 13 points with another 3-pointer to finish with 27 points at the Half. Autumn Paul had 2 points for Ellsworth. For the Lions Banks and Doolan had 2 points and Madson Farris was 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter Belfast outscored the Eagles 13-10 to cut Ellsworth's lead to 9 points, 40-31. Sydni Moores had 6 points for Belfast, Mitchell 5 points with a 3-pointer and Robertson-McIntire 2 points. For Ellsworth Ella Hubbard, Kylie Robidous, Montigny, Andrews and Kayla Duhaime each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Montigny poured in 8 more points, Jocelyn Jordan had 3 points and Alicia Kelley 2 points for the Eagles. Mitchell had 8 points for the Lions and Doolan was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with a career high 37 points. The Eagles were 7-12 from the free throw line.

Belfast was led by Lillie Mitchell with 17 points. The Lions were 9-12 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 3-1 and will play Presque Isle at home on Thursday, December 27th at 4:30PM

Belfast, 0-5, plays host to Oceanside on Saturday, December 29th at 4:30PM.
