Ellsworth Girls Season Comes To an End Lose To Waterville 47-34 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]

The Ellsworth Girls Basketball season came to an end Tuesday night, February 13th, when the Eagles fell to the Waterville Purple Panthers 47-34 in Waterville in a Class B North Preliminary game.

Ellsworth trailed 18-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Sadie Garling had 6 points for Waterville hitting 2 3-pointers. Madeleine Martin had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Mackenzie St. Peter had 5 points and Abigail Saucier chipped in 2 points for Waterville. For Ellsworth Trinity Montigny had 6 points and Katelynn Bagley 2 points.

It was 28-17 at the end of the 1st Half as Waterville outscored Ellsworth 10-9 in the 2nd Quarter. Paige St. Pierre had 6 points, Jayda Murray 2 points and Garling 2 points for Waterville. For Ellsworth Montigny had 6 points with a 3-pointer and Sierra Andrews 3 points. Ellsworth was 2-10 from the free throw line in the 1st Half.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth cut the lead to 9 points, trailing 36-27. Bagley had 8 points for Ellsworth and Montigny and Andrews 2 points. For Waterville Mackenzie St. Pierre had 3 points, Paige St. Pierre 2 points, Murray 2 points and Dasia Roberts was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth cut the lead to 3 points, but Waterville made free throws, going 6-13 in the Quarter. Mackenzie St. Peter had 4 points, Garling had a 3-pointer, and Saucier and Martin 2 points each. For Ellsworth Bagley had 5 points and Montigny 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with 16 points and Katelynn Bagley had 13 points. The Eagles were 5-16 from the free throw line.

Waterville was led by Mackenzie St. Pierre with 12 points and Sadie Garling had 11 points. The Purple Panthers were 9-20 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth ends the season with a 10-9 record.

Waterville, now 14-5 advances to the Cross Insurance Center where they will play the 2nd seeded John Bapst Crusaders on Friday, February 16th at 6:30 PM.
