Ellsworth Girls Score Early and Late to Beat MCI 55-40

The MCI Huskies owned the 2nd and 3rd Quarters of their game with Ellsworth on Saturday, January 11th but luckily for Ellsworth, they owned the 1st Quarter and dominated in the 4th Quarter to come away with a 55-40 win at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 15-8 1st Quarter lead. Samantha Carter drained 2 3-pointers for MDI for 6 points. Jocelyn Jordan had 4 points. Trinity Montigny had a 3-pointer and Casey Carter chipped in with 2 points. For MCI Leah Bussell had 6 points and Natalie Sites 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter MCI outscored Ellsworth 10-4 to cut Ellsworth's lead to 19-18 at the end of the 1st Half. For the Husxkies Sites had 4 points, Jillian Frost 2 points, Danielle Dow 2 points and Bussell 2 more points. For Ellsworth Carter hit her 3rd 3-pointer of the game and Autumn Paul was 1-2 from the free throw line

In the 3rd Quarter MCI took the lead 34-32 outscoring Ellsworth 16-13. Sites had 7 points for MCI. Bussell had 4 more points. Ichee Corales had a 3-pointer and Frost added 2 more points. For Ellsworth Montigny had 3 3-pointers for 9 points. Jocelyn Jordan and Kylie Robidoux each added 2 points.

After trailing by 2 points, Ellsworth exploded for 23 points in the 4th Quarter, outscoring MCI 23-6. Casey Carter had 2 3-pointers for 6 points. Montigny had 5 points with her 5th 3-pointer. Morgan Clifford had 4 points with a 3-pointer. Robidoux had 3 points and Jocelyn Jordan 2 more. For MCI Danielle Dow had 4 points and Sites 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with a game high17 points. Samantha Carter had 9 points. The Eagles hit a modern team record of 11 3-pointers with Montigny having 5, Samantha Carter 3, Casey Carter 2 and Morgan Clifford 1. Ellsworth was 8-15 from the free throw line.

MCI was led by Natalie Sites with 17 points while Leah Bussell had 12 points. MCI was 1-4 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 6-3 and will play host to Hermon on Tuesday, January 14th at 7 p.m.

MCI is now 2-9 and will play at Maranacook on Tuesday, January 14th at 6:30 p.m.
