Ellsworth Girls Prevail in Battle of the Eagles

The Ellsworth Girls battled back after trailing most of the 1st Half, and beat the GSA Girls Basketball Team in the Hancock County Battle of the Eagles on Tuesday night, January 22nd in Blue Hill. Ellsworth won 42-37.

GSA jumped out to a 13-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Freshman Evelyn Daigle had 5 points including a 3-pointer. Luna Perry-St.Peter and Julianna Allen each had 3 points and Mallory Charette 2 points for GSA. For Ellsworth Sierra Andrews had 4 points and Kylie Robidoux and Samantha Carter each had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored GSA 9-7 to cut the lead to 3 points, 20-17 at the end of the 1st Half. For Ellsworth Jocelyn Jordan had 5 points and Sara Shea had 4 points. For GSA Dagan had 4 points, Allen 2 points and Sophia Biggie 1 point going 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth took the lead 30-27. Trinity Montigny who was scoreless in the 1st Half, become untracked, scoring 8 points including 2 3's and Kylie Robidoux had 5 points.. For GSA Allen had 5 points and Dagan 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Montigny and Kayla Duhaime had 4 points each for Ellsworth while Robidoux had 3 points and Andrews 1 point. For GSA Dagan had 5 points with her 2nd 3-pointer of the night. Charette and Perry-St.Peter each had 2 points and Allen 1 point.

Ellsworth was led by Trintiy Montigny with 12 points while Kylie Robidoux had 10 points. Ellsworth was 6-16 from the free throw line.

GSA was led by Evelyn Dagan with a game high 16 points while Julianna Allen had 11 points. GSA was 7-15 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth now 11-3 plays at Presque Isle on Friday night, January 25th at 6PM. That game will be live-streamed by WHOU

GSA is 3-10 and plays at Sumner Memorial High School on Friday, January 25th at 6:30PM.
