Ellsworth Girls Hang On Nip Foxcroft Academy 39-38
The Ellsworth Girls didn't make a free throw until the 4th Quarter, but Trinity Montigny went 4-6 from the line in the 4th Quarter, to give Ellsworth a 39-38 win over Foxcroft Academy at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Tuesday, January 29th.
Foxcroft Academy jumped out to a 10-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, but the Eagles outscored the Ponies 15-6 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 23-16 lead at the end of the 1st Half. The lead was cut to 35-30 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.
Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with 14 points. The Eagles drained 7 3-pointers, 2 each from Sierra Andrews, Samanatha Carter and Trinity Montigny. Ellsworth was 4-17 from the free throw line.
Foxcroft Academy was led by Makenzie Beaudry with a game high 25 points. Ainsley Ade had a 3-pointer and the Ponies were 3-13 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth is now 13-4 with 1 game remaining, against MDI at home on Wednesday, February 6th on Senior Recognition Night. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
Foxcroft Academy is 6-10 and has 2 games remaining. They play host to Hermon on Thursday, January 31 and play their final game in Bar Harbor against MDI on Monday, February 4th.
