Ellsworth High School's Trinity Montigny dribbled down the court and jacked up a 3-pointer as time expired to tie the score 42-42 at the end of regulation. But in overtime the Hermon Hawks outscored the Eagles 11-5 as Hermon beat Ellsworth 53-47 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Tuesday, January 14th.

Hermon led 13-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Madison Lebel had 5 points for Hermon with a 3-pointer. Paige Plissey had 5 points going 3-4 from the free throw line and Elizabeth Wyman had 3 points. For Ellsworth Trinity Montigny had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Kylie Robidoux had 2 points.

Ellsworth outscored Hermon 12-7 in the 2nd Quarter, and Hermon led by 1 point at the end of the 1st Half 20-19. Morgan Clifford had 8 points for Ellsworth with 2 3-pointers. Jocelyn Jordan and Samantha Carter each had 2 points. For Hermon Megan Tracy had 5 points and Paige Plissey had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter the Hawks led Ellsworth 8-6 to take a 28-25 lead. Madison Lebel had a 3-pointer for Hermon, Elizabeth Wyman had 2 points and Megan Tracy had 2 points and Paige Plissey had 1 point. For Ellsworth Montigny had 4 points and Jocelyn Jordan 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Montigny had 5 points with the tying 3-pointer. Clifford and Casey Carter each had a 3-poiinter. Sierra Andrews, Jocelyn Jordan, and Kylie Robidoux each had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Hermon Plissey had 4 points, Mercedes Campbell a 3-pointer and Lebel, Sydney Gallop and Tracy each had 2 points. Charlotte Caron had 1 point

In Overtime the Hawks were 9-14 from the free throw line with Tracy having 5 points, Allie Cameron, Lebel, and Gallop 2 points each. For Ellsworth Montigny had 3 points and Robidoux had 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with 17 points while Morgan Clifford had 11 points. The Eagles were 7-12 from the free throw line

Hermon had 3 players in double figures with Megan Tracy having 14 points and Paige Plissey and Madison Lebel each having 12 points. Hermon was 20-36 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 6-4 and will play at Orono on Saturday, January 18th at 3:30 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Hermon is 11-1 and will play host to Old Town on Thursday, January 16th at 7 p.m.
