The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team beat the Orono Red Riots, 49-34 in Orono on Saturday afternoon, January 18th.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 12-2 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. The Eagles didn't allow a point until Lauryn Brown scored with 30.1 seconds left in the Quarter. Meanwhile Trinity Montigny had 9 points with a 3-pointer and Jocelyn Jordan had 3 points.

In the 2nd Quarter Orono's offense came alive outscoring Ellsworth 10-8, but Ellsworth led 20-12 at the end of the 1st Half. Izzy Baker had 7 points with a 3-pointer and Clarice Bell had a 3-pointer for the Red Riots. For Ellsworth Kylie Robidoux had 4 points and Casey Carter and Kayla Duhaime each had 2 points.

The 3rd Quarter belonged to Ellsworth as they outscored Orono 15-2 to take a 35-14 lead. Montigny had 4 points with her 2nd 3-pointer. Robidoux had 4 points. Casey Carter had a 3-pointer and Autumn Paul had 2 points while Sara Shea was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth had enough points int he bank, as Orono outscored them 20-14. For the Red Riots Baker had 5 points with her 2nd 3-pointer of the game. Ellie Peirce had 4 points as did Lauryn Brown who drained a 3-pointer. Clarice Bell had her 2nd 3-pointer of the game and Mary Kate Smith had 2 points. For Ellsworth Casey Carter had 5 points with her 2nd 3-pointer. Montigny had 4 points and Robidoux and Jordan each had 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with a game high 19 points while Casey Carter and Kylie Robidoux each had 10 points. Ellsworth was 5-14 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Izzy Baker with 12 points. The Red Riots were 3-7 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 7-4 and will play host to MDI on Wednesday, January 22nd at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 6:30 p.m.

Orono is 2-11 and will play at Hermon on Friday, January 24th at 7 p.m.
