Ellsworth Girls Beat Presque Isle For 1st Time In Over a Decade 49-44

The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team made history, defeating the Presque Isle Wildcats for the 1st time in over a decade, 49-44 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Thursday, December 27th.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 12-11 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter and it was 24-21 at the end of the 1st Half. Ellsworth was able to extend their lead slightly in the 3rd Quarter 34-29 and held on to win to end a decade plus of frustration.

Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny with a game high 23 points. Kylie Robidoux had 6 points. Montigny had 3 3's, and Ella Hubbard and Sara Shea each had a 3-pointer for the Eagles. Ellsworth was 6-14 from the free throw line.

Presque Isle was led by Faith Sjoberg with 16 points while Madison Jeandreau had 11 points. Sjoberg had 4 3's, Jeandreau 3 3's and Molly Kingsbury had 1 3-pointer. The Wildcats were 0-4 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth, now 4-1 will play host to Caribou on Friday, December 28th at 1PM.

Presque Isle, 2-2 will travel to Bar Harbor to play MDI on Friday, December 28th at 1PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
