Ellsworth Girls Beat John Bapst 42-32 [STATS]

On a night when both teams had problems hitting from the field, Ellsworth went 16-23 from the free throw line and beat John Bapst 42-32 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Tuesday, January 28th.

Ellsworth led 7-6 at the end of the 1st Quarter, but John Bapst led 17-16 at the end of the 1st Half. Ellsworth led 26-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Kaylee Bagley, who as a young girl won numerous free throw shooting championships finished 7-9 from the free throw line, and had a game-high 17 points for Ellsworth. Allie Bivins had 8 points. Lily Bean had 7 points, going 5-6 from the free throw line.

Claire Gaetani had a rare off-night for the Crusaders, finishing with 8 points. Anna Smith had 7 points with a 3-pointer. CC Higgins had a 3-pointer. The Crusaders were 2-3 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 10-6 with 2 games left in the regular season. They will host Washington Academy on Thursday, January 30th at 7 p.m. and then finish the regular season on Tuesday, February 4th hosting MDI at 7 p.m. That will be senior recognition night. The Ellsworth-MDI game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

John Bapst is now 8-7 and has 3 games remaining. They play at Foxcroft Academy on Thursday, January 30th at 7 p.m. then host Hermon on Tuesday, February 4th at 6:30 p.m. before closing out the season against Washington Academy on Wednesday, February 5th at 8 p.m.
