Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team Beats Washington Academy 55-30 [STATS]

The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team beat Washington Academy 55-30 on Tuesday night, January 7th in East Machias.

The Eagles, decimated by injuries, having lost 4 of their top 6 players to injuries were also without Camryn Clough on Tuesday. Coach Andy Pooler has called up to the varsity roster Hannah Frost, Kennedy Clifford, Whitney Carter, and Jewell Cook in recent days.

On Tuesday Ellsworth jumped out to a 16-11 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter and led 23-18 at the end of the 1st Half. Ellsworth used a 17-6 3rd Quarter run to lead 40-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

The Eagles were led by Elizabeth Boles who had a game-high 23 points, including 3 3-pointers. Kaylee Bagley finished with 15 points, including 2 3-points. Austyn Atherton had a 3-pointer. Whitney Carter scored her 1st varsity points, with a basket in the 4th Quarter. Ellsworth was 6-9 from the free throw line.

Washington Academy was led by Grace Howard with 9 points, including a 3-pointer. Reese Crosman had 7 points. The Raiders were 7-12 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 6-3 on the season. The Eagles will travel up to play Houlton on Saturday, January 11th at 3 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Washington Academy is 3-7. They will host John Bapst on Wednesday, January 11th at 3:30 p.m.
