Ellsworth Girls Beat Brewer 44-43 [STATS]

The Ellsworth Girl's Basketball Team woke up in the 3rd Quarter after trailing Brewer 28-17 at the Half, outscoring Brewer 20-5 in the 3rd Quarter and hung on to beat the Witches 44-43 in Brewer on Tuesday, December 9th.

Ellsworth was stone-cold shooting in the 1st Half, and Brewer took advantage, leading 12-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 28-17 at the Half. But whatever Coach Pooler said to the team at halftime seemed to ignite them, as they started diving for the balls on the floor and they started scoring, draining 4 3-pointers. In the 3rd Quarter Sydney Mason had 8 points with 2 3's, and Austyn Atherton and Kaylee Bagley each had 5 points with a 3-pointer.

Ellsworth was led by Sydney Mason with 14 points and 3 3-pointers. Elizabeth Boles had 12 points with 2 3-pointers. Atherton had 2 3's and Bagley 1 3-pointer. Ellsworth was just 6-16 from the free throw line.

Brewer was led by Jillian Ford who had a game-high 19 points including 3 3-pointers. Ford scored 13 points in the 2nd Quarter with 3 3's, but Ellsworth held her in check the rest of the game. Abbie Flagg and Gabby Chasse each had a 3-pointer. Brewer was 8-12 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 2-0 and plays again on Wednesday night, December 10th in Old Town against the Coyotes. The game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device, with the tip-off at 7 p.m. and pregame starting at 6:45.

Brewer is 0-2. They will host Presque Isle on Saturday, December 13th at 3 p.m.
