Ellsworth Girls Basketball Best Orono Red Riots 57-40
The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team beat the Orono Red Riots 57-40 on Tuesday night, December 17 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth. 10 Ellsworth players scored on the night
Ellsworth jumped out to at 16-13 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Trinity Montigny had 7 points to lead the Eagles, with a 3-pointer. Jocelyn Jordan had 4 points, Samantha Carter had a 3-pointer and Sierra Andrews 2 points . For Ellsworth Clarise Bell had a 3-pointer, Chloe LaBree, Izzy Baker, Hannah Sinclair, Alyssa Labelle and Lauryn Brown each had 2 points for Orono.
In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Orono 20-9 to take a 36-22 lead at Halftime. In the 2nd Quarter Jordan had 6 points for Ellsworth, Montigny 5 points, with another 3-pointer, Kylie Robidoux, Morgan Clifford and Casey Carter each chipped in with 2 points while Kayla Duhaime was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Orono Lablee had 3 points with Ellie Peirce, Brown and LaBree each adding 2 points.
With Ellsworth outscoring Orono 13-10 in the 3rd Quarter the lead was 17 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter 49-32. Montigny had 10 points with 2 3-pointers, with Robidoux adding 3 points for Ellsworth. Hannah Sinclair had 4 points for Orono with Ellie Pierce and Alyssa Labelle chipping in 2 points.
In the 4th Quarter Clifford, Jordan, Montigny and Alicia Kelley each had 2 points for Ellsworth while Labelle had 4 points for Orono. Sinclair and LaBree each chipped in 2 points.
Ellsworth was led by Trintiy Montigny with a game high 24 points, while Jocelyn Jordan had 12 points. The Eagles were 6-12 from the free throw line.
Orono was led by Alyssa Labelle with 11 points while Hannah Sinclair and Chloe LaBree each had 8 points. The Red Riots were 7-8 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth, now 3-0 will play host to Houlton on Saturday, December 21st at 2 p.m.
Orono, 0-4 will play host to MDI on Thursday, December 19th at 7 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on any Alexa enabled device and on our free downloadable APP
