Ellsworth Falls to Brewer 69-52 in Finals [RECAP/STATS/PHOTOS]

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team fell to the Brewer Witches in Brewer Friday night, 69-52 in the PVC Pod finals in a game that was much closer than the final score would indicate.

Brewer jumped out to a 15-9 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Aaron Newcomb had 5 points for Brewer with a 3-pointer. Brady Saunders and Ryder Goodwin had 4 points each and Dylan Huff had 2 points. For Ellsworth Chance Mercier had 3 points, Hunter Curtis and Michael Palmer 2 points each and Eamon MacDonald 1 point.

Ellsworth went on a 8-0 run to start the 2nd Quarter but Brewer went on a 6-0 run, and at the end of the 1st Half the Witches were up 29-23. Hunter Curtis and Chance Mercier each  had 5 points for Ellsworth with a 3 pointer. Brett Bragdon drained a 3 pointer and Michael Palmer had 2 points. For the Witches  Ryder Goodwin had 6 points, Brady Saunders had 5 points with a 3-pointer, and Dylan Huff had a 3-pointer.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Brewer 20-17 to make the score 46-43 Brewer at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Hunter Curtis had 8 points for Ellsworth. Chance Mercier had 5 points, Eamon MacDonald had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Michael Palmer had 2 points. For Brewer Dylan Huff had a 3-pointer and 5 points, and Aaron Newcomb had 5 points. as did Ryder Goodwin. Colby Smith had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Kyle Goodrich had 7 points with a 3-pointer for Brewer. Dylan Huff had 6 points. Evan Nadeau, Cameron Hughes and Brady Saunders each had 2 points and Colby Smith was 2-2 from the free throw line and Lenox Cummings and Aaron Newcomb were each 1-2 from the free throw line. For Ellsworth Hunter Curtis had 4 points, Brody and Chance Mercier each had 2 points and Miles Palmer was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Hunter Curtis with a game high 19 points while Chance Mercier had 15 points. Ellsworth was 10-16 from the free throw line.

Brewer had 4 players in double figures. Dylan Huff had 16 points, Ryder Goodwin 15 points and Aaron Newcomb and Brady Saunders each had 11 points. The Witches were 12-17 from the free throw line
