Ellsworth Boys Top Presque Isle 64-47
On Saturday afternoon, January 25th, Jackson Curtis scored his 1000th career point. But more importantly for the Ellsworth Eagles, they beat Presque Isle 64-47, improving to 11-3 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth.
Ellsworth jumped out to a 19-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter and led 35-21 at the end of the 1st Half. It was 49-26 at the end of the 3rd Quarter
Ellsworth was led by Jackson Curtis with a game high 27 points. Hunter Curtis had 10 points while Darby Barry had 9 points, ripping down 10 rebounds. Connor Crawford had 2 3-pointers, while Barry and Jackson Curtis each had 1 3-pointer. The Eagles were 16-26 from the free throw line.
Presque Isle was led by Caleb Wheaton with 15 points while Malachi Cummings had 14 points. Cummings had 3-pointers and Wheaton 1 3-pointer. The Wildcats were 4-11 from the free throw line.
At 11-3, Ellsworth has 4 games remaining. They will play at Eastern Maine Community Collgege on Monday, January 27th against John Bapst, with a tip-off at 6 p.m. They will then play on Tuesday, January 28th at home on Senior Night against Foxcroft Academy. They finish on the road on Saturday, February 1st at Hermon at 2:30 and then on Thursday, February 6th at MDI.
