Ellsworth Boys Too Much for MDI Win 57-21 [STATS/PHOTOS]

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team proved to be too much for the MDI Trojans winning 57-21 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium at Ellsworth High School on Wednesday December 15th.

Ellsworth led 19-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter and outscored MDI 15-2 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 34-9 lead into Halftime. Ellsworth led 52-19 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Ellsworth was led by Chance Mercier with a game-high 15 points. Hunter Curtis had 9 points. The Eagles were 8-14 from the free throw line and had 3 3-points. Eamon MacDonald drained 2 3-pointers in the 2nd Quarter and Chance Mercier hit his 3-pointer in the 1st Quarter.

MDI was led by Alex Gray with 8 points. Spencer Laurendeau and Joey Minutolo each had 5 points. The Trojans were 1-5 from the free throw line. Laurendeau and Minutolo each had a 3-pointer.

Ellsworth is now 2-0 and will travel to Houlton on Friday, December 17th to play the Shiretowners at 7 p.m.

MDI is now 0-2. They play their home opener against Orono on Saturday,, December 18th at 3:30 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on our free downloadable APP, on any Alexa enabled device and on WDEA Internet Radio.
