The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team were 9-13 from the free throw in the 4th Quarter, and 11-16 in the game, to hang on and defeat a stubborn Winslow Black Raiders team 58-51 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, on Friday, February 14th. Ellsworth will now play Washington Academy in the semifinals on Wednesday, February 19th at 7 p.m.

Ellsworth led 12-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter as Jackson Curtis scored 10 points for the Eagles, including 2 3-pointers. Adam Inman had Ellsworth's other 2 points. For Winslow, Colby Pomeroy had 7 points with a 3-pointer and Jacob Berard had 2 points.

Ellsworth led by 3 points at the end of the 1st Half 24-21. Austin Harris had 5 points for Ellsworth including a 3-pointer. Darby Barry had a 3-pointer and Hunter and Jackson Curtis each had 2 points. For Winslow, Pomery and Andrew Poulin each had 4 points while Reid Gagnon and Jason Reynolds each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter the teams traded the lead, but Ellsworth led 42-41 when the buzzer went off. Darby Barry had 2 3's for 6 points for Ellsworth. Jackson Curtis had 6 points and Hunter Curtis had 3 points while Austin Harris had 2 points. For Winslow Nicholas Girard hit back to back 3's for 6 points. Berard had 5 points, Reynolds 4 points and Pomeroy 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Jackson Curtis had 7 points for Ellsworth, going 5-6 from the free throw line. Hunter Curtis had 4 points with a 3-pointer. Darby Barry was 3-4 from the free throw line and Connor Crawford had 2 points. For Winslow Pomeroy had 6 points, Gagnon 2 points and Poulin 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Jackson Curtis with a game high 26 points. Darby Barry had 12 points and Hunter Curtis 9 points.

Winslow was led by Colby Pomeroy with 19 points. Pomeroy ended his career with 998 career points, 2 points shy of 1000. Winslow was 5-6 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth, 16-3,  will play Washington Academy in the semifinals on Wednesday, February 19th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device. Ellsworth and Washington Academy split their series this season, each winning at each other's gym.

Winslow finishes the season with a 12-8 record.
