Ellsworth Boys Survive John Bapst Winning 47-46 in Overtime [STATS]

The Ellsworth Boy's Basketball Team survived the John Bapst Crusaders on Wednesday night, January 29th, winning 47-46 in overtime at Ellsworth High School.

The game was part of Ellsworth's Cancer Awareness series, with the Boy's all wearing pink socks.

Colby Haggerty's 3-pointer at the buzzer sent the game into overtime, tied at 38-38. The Crusaders had a chance to win the game in overtime, with the last shot, but the shot just missed.

John Bapst, playing a very deliberate style led 9-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Ellsworth led 16-15 at the end of the 1st Half, and 26-23 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Ellsworth shot poorly from the free throw line, finishing the game 10-24. It would have been worse, but for Jackson Barry's 5-6 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Dawson Curtis who finished with 10 points. Hollis Grindal and Jackson Barry each had 9 points. Bryce Hart had a pair of 3-pointers for the Eagles and Connor MacDonald had a 3-pointer.

John Bapst was led by Colby Haggerty with 15 points, including 43-pointers. Elmer Robichaud had 14 points with 2 3-pointers. Izak Robichaud, Zac Babcock and Arturo Forester each had a 3-pointer. The Crusaders were 7-12 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 13-2 with 3 games remaining in the regular season. They host Orono on Friday, January 31st at 7 p.m., travel to play at Bucksport on Saturday, February 1st at 3:30 and then finish the regular season at home against MDI on Wednesday, February 5th at 7 p.m. All 3 games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

John Bapst is 4-11 with 3 games remaining in the regular season. They will host Hermon on Wednesday, February 4th, host Washington Academy on Thursday, February 5th and host Foxcroft Academy on Friday, February 7th.
