Ellsworth Boys Rally to Beat Orono 68-58 [STATS]
The Ellsworth Boys' Basketball Team rallied from a 24-10 1st Quarter deficit and beat the Orono Red Riots 68-58 Saturday afternoon, December 14th in Orono.
The Eagles outscored Orono 20-7 to trail 31-30 at the end of the 1st Half. Ellsworth led 30-28 for the 1st time in 2nd Quarter with 33.2 seconds in the Half. Ellsworth led 50-41 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.
Orono made 8 3-pointers in the 1st Half, 6 in the 1st Quarter.
Ellsworth was led by Brayden King who finished with 20 points, after having 2 points in the 1st Half. Hollis Grindal and Jackson Barry each had 13 points. Dawson Curtis had 12 points. Eli Holler and Zach Bray each had a 3-pointer. The Eagles were 18-23 from the free throw line.
Brady Hews had a game-high 22 points before fouling out in the 4th Quarter. Bergen Sodenberg had 11 points. The Red Riots finished with 10 3-pointers. Sodenberg and Hews each had 3 3-pointers. Johnny Jones, Will Francis, Matt Allen and Kason Bagley each had a 3-pointer. The Red Riots were 4-7 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth improves to 3-0. They play at Old Town against the Coyotes on Tuesday, December 17th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370 with the pregame starting at 6:45 p.m. The game will also be aired on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
