Ellsworth Boys Rally to Beat MCI 47-41

It was a tale of 2 halves, as the Ellsworth Boys rallied from a double digit deficit, to beat the MCI Huskies 47-41 in Pittsfield on Saturday, December 14th, for their 1st victory of the season.

MCI dominated the boards in the 1st Half, and jumped out to a 14-4 in the 1st Quarter. They scored the final 8 points of the Quarter. Gavin McArthur had 2 3's for 6 points for MCI while Harrison Sites had 4 points and Dominic Wilson and Owen Williams each had 2 points. For Ellsworth Darby Barry had 3 points and Hunter Curtis 1 point.

In the 2nd Quarter, MCI increased their lead, outscoring Ellsworth 10-9 to lead 25-15 at the end of the 1st Half.McArthur and Caleb Willis each had 3 points for MCI while Wilson and Williams had 2 points each. For Ellsworth Jackson Curtis had 6 points, Connor Crawford a 3-pointer and Hunter Curtis 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth came alive, outscoring MCI 19-12 to cut the deficit to 2 points, 36-34. Austin Harris led the way for the Eagles scoring 10 points with 2 3-pointers. Crawford had another 3-pointer and J'Von James provided a huge spark with 2 points and Hunter Curtis had 2 more points. For MCI Williams had 7 points with a 3-pointer, McArthur 2 points, Isaac Bussell 2 points and Sites was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter Ellsworth's defense picked up the intensity limiting MCI to just 5 points while scoring 13 for the win. Jackson Curtis had 7 points, James 3 points, Hunter Curtis 2 points and Darby Barry was 1-2 from the free throw line. For MCI Sites had a field goal for 2 points, Williams was 2-2 from the free throw line while McArthur was 1-2.

Ellsworth was led by Jackson Curtis with a game high 15 points, while Austin Harris had 10 points. The Eagles were 7-15 from the free throw line.

MCI was led by Owen Williams with 13 points while Gavin McArthur had 12 points. The Huskies were 8-11 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 1-1 and will play host to Orono on Wednesday, December. 18th in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
