Ellsworth Boys Nipped at Hampden 51-50

The Ellsworth Boys were leading 28-14 at the end of the 1st Half and 45-31 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. But the Broncos outscored the Eagles 20-5 in the 4th Quarter to nip the Eagles 51-50 on Tuesday, January 19th at Hampden Academy

Ellsworth jumped out to a 12-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Chance Mercier had 7 points for Ellsworth with a 3-pointter. Michael Palmer had a 3 pointer and Gage Hardy had 2 points for the Eagles. For the Broncos Landon Gabric had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Aiden Kristal had a 3 pointer.

In the 2nd Half Ellsworth outscored Hampden Academy 16-6 to lead 28-14 at the end of the 1st Half. Chance Mercier had 5 points, Brody Mercier 4 points, Eamon MacDonald a 3 pointer and Hunter Curtis and Kaleb Conners each had 2 points for the Eagles. For the Broncos, Gabric, TJ Henaghen and Ethan Gray each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter each team scored 17 points and Ellsworth led 45-31. Chance Mercier had 7 points with another 3 pointer. Brett Bragdon drained 2 3 pointer and Curtis and Brody Mercier each chipped in with 2 points. For the Broncos JJ Wolfington had 8 points with 2 3 pointers. Ethan Gray had 4 points, Kristal a 3 pointer and Henaghen 2 points.

The 4th Quarter belonged to the Broncos as they outscored Ellsworth 20-5. Landon Gabric led the charge, with 7 points including a 3-pointer. TJ Henaghen had 6 points. JJ Wolfington had another 3-pointer, and Travis Czapiga and Brandon Butterfield each chipped in 2 points. For Ellsworth, Brett Bragdon hit his 3rd 3-pointer of the night and Chance Mercier added 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Chance Mercier with 21 points while Brett Bragdon had 9 points on 3 3-pointes. Ellsworth was 1-4 from the free throw line.

Hampden Academy was led by Landon Gabric with 14 points. JJ Wolfington had 11 points. The Broncos were 0-2 from the free throw line.
