Ellsworth Boys Down MDI 59-48 [PHOTOS]
The Ellsworth Eagles Boys Basketball Team downed the MDI Trojans 59-48 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Tuesday, January 21st.
MDI jumped out to a 17-12 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Jack DaCorte had 5 points with a 3-pointer for MDI. Porter Isaacs had 4 points and Ethan Merchant, Cadin Lunt, Nate Philbrook and Will Hodgdon each chipped in with 2 points. For Ellsworth Austin Harris had 4 points, Connor Crawford a 3-pointer for 3 points, Hunter Curtis and Adam Inman 2 points each and Jackson Curtis 1 point.
In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored MDI 21-12 to take a 33-29 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Jackson Curtis led Ellsworth with 5 points. Austin Harris had 4 points and J'Von James, Connor Crawford and Hunter Curtis each had a 3-pointer for 3 points and Darby Barry had 3 points. For MDI Jack DaCorte had 7 points with his 2nd 3-pointer. Cadin Lunt had a 3-pointer and Will Hodgdon 2 points.
In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored MDI 11-8 to lead 44-37 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Connor Crawford drained his 3rd 3-pointer for Ellsworth. Hunter Curtis had 3 points. Austin Harris and Darby Berry each had 2 points and J'Von James had 1 point. For MDI Porter Isaacs had 6 points, while Cadin Lunt had 2 points.
Ellsworth was 5-15 from the free throw line through the 3rd Quarter, but as MDI put them to the line in the 4th, Ellsworth converted 9 of their 12 free throws. Jackson Curtis had 6 points. Darby Berry had 4 points. Hunter Curtis 3 points and Austin Harris 2 points. For MDI Nate Philbrook had 4 points, Brady Renault a 3-pointer for 3 points and Porter Isaacs and Charlie Parker 2 points each.
Ellsworth had 3 players in double figures. Jackson Curtis and Austin Harris had 12 points each while Hunter Curtis had 11 points. The Eagles were 14-28 from the free throw line.
MDI was led by Jack DaCorte and Porter Isaacs each with 12 points. MDI was 2-4 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth is now 10-2 and will play host to Caribou on Friday, January 24th at 7:30 p.m.
MDI is now 6-7 and plays host to Presque Isle on Friday January 24th at 8 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
