The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team defeated the Washington Academy Raiders 64-52 on Monday night, January 7th in East Machias, behind a career high 26 points including 5 3's by Darby Berry.

The Eagles jumped out to a 12-11 lead in the 1st Quarter.  Berry had 2 3's for 6 points, Jackson Curtis 4 points and Devin Grindle 2 points. For Washington Academy Jamie Ortega had 7 points with a 3-pointer, and Jose Blanco and Cecil Gray each had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Washington Academy 17-5 to take a 29-16 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Barry had 10 points with 2 more 3's for Ellsworth. Hunter Crawford had 3 points. Connor Crawford, and Jackson Curtis each had 2 points. For Washington Academy Jax Lin had a 3-pointer and Ortega 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth outscored the Raiders 11-5 to increase their lead to 19 points, 40-21. Darby Berry had 6 points with another 3-pointer. Jackson Curtis had 5 points with a 3-pointer for Ellsworth. Gray had 4 points for the Raiders and Blanco 1 point.

Washington Academy outscored Ellsworth 31-24 but Ellsworth was 12-19 from the free throw line in the final quarter. For Ellsworth Jackson Curtis had 12 points, going 6-9 from the free throw line. Hunter Curtis was 4-4 from the free throw line. Barry had 4 more points and Austin Harris had 2 points. Grindle and Norman Jodrey each had 1 point. For Washington Academy Joshua Ketchen had 14 points with 4 3's. Andon Wood had 7 points with a 3-pointer. Donald Socotomah had 2 3's for 6 points and Lin had another 3-pointer and Blanco was 1-2 from the free throw line before fouling out of the game.

Ellsworth was led by Barry with 26 points, while Jackson Curtis had 23 points. Ellsworth was 16-25 from the free throw line.

Washington Academy was led by Joshua Ketchen with 14 points. Andon Wood had 7 points. Washington Academy was 2-7 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 6-3 and will play at MDI on Thursday, January 10th at 7PM with the pregame starting at 6:30PM. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device
