Ellsworth Boys Beat Orono 62-49 [STATS]

The Ellsworth Boys used a decisive 3rd Quarter, outscoring Orono 20-13 to beat the Red Riots 62-49 in Orono on Thursday, January 11th.

Ellsworth's Chance Mercier, was tasked with primarily guarding Orono's Pierce Walton, and held his good friend to just 5 points on the night, while scoring a game-high 23 points.

Ellsworth drained 7 3-pointers on the night, with Miles Palmer sinking 2 3's in the 4th quarter which were like daggers into the heart as Orono tried to comeback.

Meanwhile Ellsworth, was an efficient 15-24 from the free throw line, going 7-10 in the decisive 3rd Quarter and 6-10 in the 4th Quarter.

Ellsworth was led by Chance Mercier with a game-high 23 points. He had 3 3-pointers. Miles Palmer had 14 points with 3 3-pointers. Josiah James-Chin had 9 points with a 3-pointer and went 6-8 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Ben Francis with 16 points and 2 3-pointers. Will Francis had 11 points. Brady Hewes had the Red Riots' other 3-pointer. Orono was 3-5 from the free throw line.
