The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team trailed for most of the 2nd and 3rd Quarters but used a decisive 20-6 run in the 4th Quarter to beat the Orono Red Riots in Orono on Saturday afternoon, January 18th 57-45

Ellsworth led 15-12 in the 1st Quarter. Jackson Curtis had 4 points. Hunter Curtis, Austin Harris and Darby Barry each had a 3-pointer and J'Von James had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Orono Jason Desisto had 9 points with a 3-pointer and Zack Dill 3 points.

In the 2nd Quarter Orono outscored Ellsworth 13-6 to take a 25-21 lead. Jordan Cota had 5 points with a 3-pointer for Orono and Matt Tozer and Desisto each had a 3-pointer. Javier Santiago chipped in 2 points. For Ellsworth, birthday boy Hunter Curtis had all of Ellsworth's 6 points.

In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Orono 16-14 to cut the lead to 2 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter 39-37. Jackson Curtis held to 4 points in the 1st Half, had 7 in the 3rd Quarter. Austin Harris had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Hunter Curtis and J'Von James each had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Orono Zack Dill had 9 points with 2 3-pointer and Desisto and Santiago each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter Jackson Curtis had 8 points going 4-4 from the free throw line. Hunter Curtis had 6 points going 4-4 from the free throw line and Eamon MacDonald had 6 huge points, scoring a 2 to put Ellsworth up by 5 and then scoring on 2 breakaways. Orono's Desisto had 5 points with his 3rd 3-pointer and Jordan Cota had 1 point.

Ellsworth was led by Jackson Curtis with 19 points while Hunter Curtis had 17 points. The Eagles were 15-17 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Jason Desisto with 19 points while Zack Dill had 13 points. The Red Riots were 2-5 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 9-2 and will play host to MDI on Tuesday, January 21st at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 6:30 p.m.
