Ellsworth Boys Beat Orono 46-36 [PHOTOS]

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team beat the Orono Red Riots 46-36 on Monday afternoon, December 31st at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth to avenge their loss at Orono in the first game of the season back on December 8th.

Orono took a 13-9 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Jackson Curtis scored all of Ellsworth's points, and had a 3-pointer to go along with the 3 2-pointers. For Orono Connor Robertson had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Ryan Shorette had 5 points and Zack Dill had a 3-pointer.

In the 2nd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Orono 12-7 to take a 21-20 lead. Jackson Curtis had 8 more points for Ellsworth to finish with 17 in the 1st Half. Hunter Curtis and Norman Jodrey each had 2 points for Ellsworth. For Orono Ryan Shorette had 4 points Zach Dill was 2-2 from the free throw line and Sam Martin was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth increased their lead to 3 points at the end of the 3rd Quarter 31-28.  Jackson Curtis had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Devin Grindle 4 points and Malcolm Svec was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Orono Robertson had 4 points,  and Dill had 4 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Jackson Curtis had 4 points, including another 3-pointer, his 3rd of the afternoon. Hunter Curtis and Devin Grindle each had 4 points, Connor Crawford had 2 points and Austin Harris was 1-2 from the free throw line.  For Orono Shorette had 4 points, Robertson 2 points and Dill was 2-2 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Jackson Curtis with a game high 26 points and Devin Grindle had 8 points. The Eagles were 5-8 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Ryan Shorette with 13 points and Zack Dill and Connor Robertson each had 11 points. Orono was 8-10 from the free throw line.
