Ellsworth Boys Beat Old Town 66-40

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team beat the Old Town Coyotes Tuesday night, January 31st 66-40 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium as the Eagles continued their push to secure a home prelim playoff game.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 13-9 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, and led 30-17 at Halftime. It was 47-31 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Ellsworth was led by Bryce Harmon with 23 points. Harmon was 10-15 shooting 2-pointers on the night. Zach Harris had 16 points. Harris had 4 3-pointers, and Harmon and Brad Smith had 1-3pointer each. The Eagles were 9-11 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Kyle Berube with 9 points while Ryan Hoogterp had 7 points. The Coyotes made 7 3-pointers on the night, 3 by Berube and 1 each by Jacob Cyr, Ryan Hoogterp,and Logan Doucette. Old Town was 5-8 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 8-7 on the season and have 3 games remaining, all of which will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio. The Eagles play at undefeated GSA Friday, February 3rd at 7 PM, at home against John Bapst on Tuesday, February 7th at 7 PM and then on Senior Recognition Night against MDI on Thursday, February 9th at 7 PM. The Eagles will likely have to win 2 out of those 3 games to secure a home prelim play in game.

Old Town is now 4-11 and have 3 games remaining. They play at home on Thursday, February 2nd against Foxcroft Academy, on the road at Washington Academy on Tuesday, February 7th and then finish the season at home against Orono on Thursday, February 9th. The Coyotes will likely need to win all 3 games and need some help to make the playoffs.
