Ellsworth Boys Basketball Tame Orono Red Riots 67-50 [STATS]

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team defeated the Orono Red Riots 67-50 on Thursday, February 4th at Katsiaficas Gymnasium 67-50 as Hunter Curtis had a game high 33 points.

The Eagles jumped out to a 19-11 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, as Curtis had 14 points, including 2 3-pointers. Brett Bragdon had a 3-pointer and Eamon MacDonald had 2 points. For Orono Jason DeSisto had 4 points, Pierce Walston a 3-pointer and Ben Francis 2 points while Zach Dill was 2-2 from the free throw line.

Both teams scored 15 points in the 2nd Quarter, and Ellsworth led 34-26 at the end of the 1st Half. Curtis had 9 points with his 3rd 3-pointer in the 1st Half. Brett Bragdon, Brody Mercier and Michael Palmer each had a basket. For Orono Walsoton had 5 points including his 2nd 3-pointer. Zach Dill had 6 points and Ellis Spaulding and Jason DeSisto each had a bucket.

In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth outscored Orono 12-11 to take a 46-37 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Chance Mercier had 6 points including a 3-pointer. Curtis had 4 more points and Michael Harris was 2-2 from the free throw line. For the Red Riots Javier Santiago had 4 points, Ben Francis 4 points and Pierce Walston was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter Curtis and Chance Mercier had 6 points for Ellsworth. Eamon MacDonald had 5 points, Michael Palmer had 2 points and Miles Palmer was 2-2 from the free throw line. For Orono Dill had 6 points, Francis 4 points and Walston hit his 3rd 3-pointer.

Ellsworth was led by Hunter Curtis with a game high 33 points while Chance Mercier had 12 points. The Eagles were 12-17 from the free throw line

Orono had 3 players in double figures. Zach Dill had 14 points, Pierce Walston 12 points and Ben Francis 10 points. Orono was 7-11 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth will host the Hermon Hawks on Tuesday, February 9th.
