Ellsworth Boys’ Basketball Beats Bucksport 77-30 [STATS]

The Ellsworth Boys' Basketball Team opened the season with a 77-30 win over the Bucksport Golden Bucks at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth. It was the 1st regular season game for the Eagles under new coach Matt Mattson.

The Eagles jumped out to a 24-8 win at the end of the 1st Quarter and led comfortably 37-12 at the end of the 1st Half. Ellsworth led 60-23 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Dawson Curtis and Hollis Grindal paced the Eagles, each scoring 14 points. Kyle Kenny had 10 points. Morgan Blair scored his 1st varsity points finishing with 5 points and Porter Merrill scored his 1st varsity points, finishing with 4 points. The Eagles had 2 3-pointers, with Blair and Bryce Hart each scoring a 3-pointer. Ellsworth was 13-19 from the free throw line.

Bucksport was led by Collin McDougal with a game-high 15 points. Peyton Gray had 5 points. Bucksport had 4 3-pointers in the game, with McDougal draining 3 3's and Gray 1 3-pointer. The Golden Bucks were 6-16 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 1-0.They will host Foxcroft Academy on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m.

Bucksport, now 0-1 will host GSA on Tuesday, December 10th at 6:30 p.m.
