Ellsworth Baseball Tops MDI 6-2 in Final Regular Season Game [PHOTOS]

The Ellsworth Eagles topped the MDI Trojans 6-2 on Tuesday, June 1st in the final regular season game for both teams, at Ellsworth High School.

Ellsworth scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning and added 1 run in the 3rd before MDI was able to score 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning to cut the lead to 5-2. But Ellsworth added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Jay Haney started for MDI and went 5.0 innings. He struck out 2 and didn't walk a batter while allowing 10 hits. 4 of the 5 runs were earned. Noah Keeley pitched the final inning allowing 2 hits. The run was unearned.

David Baugh pitched the complete game for Ellsworth. He scattered 5 hits, striking out 9 and walking 1. One of the 2 runs he allowed was earned

For MDI Sam Mitchell had 2 singles. Logan Beckwith, Grady Wellman-Webster and Stevie Gilbert all had a single.

For Ellsworth Brett Bragdon and Nate Smith each had 2 singles. Hunter Curtis and Craig Burnett each doubled. David Baugh, Peter Keblinsky, Michael Palmer, Reece Jagels, Matt Reid and Riley King all singled.

Ellsworth finishes the regular season with a 11-5 record, while MDI finishes with a 9-7 record. Both teams will host prelim games next week.
