Ellsworth and MDI at the Tourney – Friday -Saturday February 14-15

Both the Ellsworth Girls and Boys and MDI Girls and Boys Basketball Teams received prelim byes and have advanced to the Quarterfinals at the Cross Insurance Center this coming weekend, Friday and Saturday, February 14th and 15th.

Ellsworth Boys

The Ellsworth Boys will play the last game of the session on Friday, February 14th, with the game scheduled to tip-off at 8:30 p.m. Ellsworth enters the game as the #2 seed with a 16-2 record. They will play the winner of the prelim game between #7 Old Town and #10 Foxcroft Academy

Both #7 Old Town and #10 Foxcroft Academy have a record of 8-10 They met once during the regular season with Old Town beating Foxcroft Academy 59-37 in Dover-Foxcroft.

Ellsworth and Old Town split the series this season 1-1, while the Eagles beat Foxcroft Academy in their lone meeting.

Ellsworth and MDI Girls

It always seems like that the Ellsworth and MDI Girls meet in the Tournament, and this year it won't be any different. The #4 Ellsworth Eagles will take on the #5 MDI Trojans int he opening game of the evening session on Saturday, February 15th at 4 p.m.

Ellsworth is the #4 seed with a record of 12-6 while MDI is the #5 seed with a record of 11-7. The 2 teams split the season series 1-1 with each team winning at home.

The winner of this game will play in the Class B North semifinals on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

MDI Boys

The #4 MDI Boys enter the tournament with a 10-8 record. They will play the winner of the prelim game between #5 Winslow and #12 Maranacook on Saturday night, February 15th at 7 p.m.

MDI hasn't played either Winslow or Maranacook this season as they are members of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) and Mountain Valley Athletic Conference respectively. Winslow has a record of 11-7 and Maranacook has a record of 8-10. Winslow and Maranacook will be meeting for the 1st time this season in the prelim game.

Fans attending the Saturday session where the Ellsworth-MDI Girls play and MDI Boys play will only have to pay 1 admission price.
